Research. Test. Evaluate. Improve. These four steps are the backbone of our Research and Development department. By the time you see the first generation of a new product, we’ve been through dozens of changes, transformations and modifications. As a manufacturer who serves the law enforcement and corrections community, it is critical to us that the people who wear our gear trust that they are getting the highest level of blunt trauma protection with the comfort and mobility that is necessary to successfully complete a mission or training session.

  • Provide high-quality products at a competitive price.
  • Use the highest-quality materials.
  • Remain committed to our long-held standards in protection or exceed them.
  • Test each product before we sell it.

Our product line continues to evolve by using feedback and input from LE Trainers and Officers - from impact protection and durability to the fit and comfort of the gear. We also use 3rd party labs, research facilities and scientists to test and evaluate our gear.

Testing Methods include:
  • Blunt Impact Testing
  • Impact Material Testing
  • Field Testing
  • Tear Strength and Durability
  • British Standards Testing

R&D Responds to Feedback

Feedback 1996:
The Instructor suit has too many “open areas” and students always find them.
Result 1997: Redesigned the Instructor suit to minimize gaps.

Feedback 1997: Excellent trauma protection but the suit is too cumbersome and bulky.
Result 1998: R&D adds “trauma plates” and makes the suit thinner, more mobile.

Feedback 1999: To enhance the reality and scope of training sessions, there needs to be one suit to integrate all levels of defensive tactics training including lethal force.
Result 2001: The Weapons Defense Suit – for use with Simunition® FX® marking cartridges.

Feedback 1999: It would be nice to have the same level of quality and protection for duty gear that RedMan Training Gear provides.
Result 2001: Introduction of a new line of gear – Disturbance Resolution Suits, under the name First Line Response Systems.
